Please review the following safety information about medications that may be prescribed through Graceland Wellness.

Weight Management

GLP-1 Medications

Semaglutide (Ozempic®, Wegovy®) and Tirzepatide (Zepbound®)

What Are GLP-1 Medications?

GLP-1 receptor agonists are injectable or oral medications that help regulate appetite, blood sugar, and body weight. They are prescribed for weight management when clinically appropriate.

Serious Warnings

  • Possible thyroid tumors, including cancer — tell your provider if you or a family member has had thyroid cancer (MTC) or MEN 2
  • Pancreatitis (severe stomach pain that won't go away)
  • Gallbladder problems
  • Kidney problems
  • Serious allergic reactions
  • Low blood sugar when combined with certain diabetes medications

Do Not Use If You Have

  • Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
  • Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
  • History of pancreatitis
  • Known hypersensitivity to the medication

Tell Your Provider About

  • All current medications and supplements
  • Pregnancy or plans to become pregnant
  • Breastfeeding
  • Kidney or liver conditions
  • History of depression or suicidal thoughts
  • Diabetic retinopathy
Compounding

Compounded GLP-1/GIP Medications

Compounded GLP-1/GIP medications are not FDA-approved. They are prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies and have not undergone FDA review for safety, effectiveness, or manufacturing standards. Compounded medications are clearly identified as such when prescribed.

Mental Health

Psychiatric Medications

SSRIs, SNRIs, ADHD medications, mood stabilizers, sleep aids, and anti-anxiety medications.

General Safety Information

Specific side effects vary by medication and are discussed with your provider during your evaluation. Always take medications exactly as prescribed.

Antidepressant Warning

Antidepressants may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior in children, adolescents, and young adults (18-24). Patients of all ages starting antidepressant therapy should be monitored closely for clinical worsening and suicidal ideation. Graceland Wellness treats adults 18 and older only.

Important Notes

  • Do not stop psychiatric medications abruptly without provider guidance
  • Report any new or worsening symptoms to your provider immediately
  • Some medications may interact with alcohol, supplements, or other drugs
  • ADHD medications may have additional prescribing requirements
Sexual Health

Sexual Health Medications

Sildenafil (Viagra®), Tadalafil (Cialis®), and related treatments.

Critical Warning — Nitrates

Do NOT take PDE5 inhibitors (sildenafil, tadalafil) if you take nitrates for chest pain or heart problems. The combination can cause a sudden, dangerous drop in blood pressure. Tell your provider about ALL medications you take, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements.

Seek Immediate Medical Attention If You Experience

  • An erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism)
  • Sudden vision loss
  • Sudden hearing loss
  • Chest pain during sexual activity
  • Severe dizziness or fainting
